Join me, won't you?
I have been in the works of getting together all of my favorite recipes to eventually write a cookbook. In the meantime, I've created a new blog about some of my recipes. The blog is brand new and needs your help to stay going! I've only got a couple of recipes listed so far, but I plan on posting almost everyday with a new recipe. So, if your looking for some good recipes to feed to your family, follow me over to my new blog "But Mama, I'm Hungry!". I look forward to sharing my family's favorites with your family. If you have any tried and true recipes that you'd like to share with me, I'd love to see them! See you soon over at But Mama, I'm Hungry!

Got Apples?

Our apple tree is overflowing with apples! We just started picking them this week and today I made my first pie of the season! It sure does look yummy!! I made this one for a neighbor of ours that brought us over a strawberry pie a few days ago. So, to bring back her pie pan, I made her an apple pie! I'll be making another one tonight for us for dessert. I would be sure to hear it from my husband and kids if I didn't make one for us! Here is the yummy recipe!
Dutch Apple Pie
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a large bowl. Combine 6 cups of peeled and sliced apples with ¾ cup sugar, 2 Tbl. Flour, 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1/8 tsp. nutmeg. Mix well and pour into a pie shell (store bought or homemade).
Mix ½ cup flour and ½ cup brown sugar until it is a fine mix. Cut in 3 Tbl. Soft butter with a pastry cutter. Sprinkle mixture over pie and bake for 40 minutes. Check and if it needs to be covered with foil, do so and bake another 10-20 minutes.

Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Cookies!!!

One of my first loves is baking. I've been baking since I was probably about 12, maybe even earlier. Coming up with recipes is sort of new to me. Here is one that I sell in my etsy shop.
Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Cookies!!
Ingredients:
1 c. butter (no substitutes), softened
¾ c. granulated sugar
¾ c. brown sugar
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lg. egg
2 ¼ c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.With an electric mixer cream butter and sugars until nice and creamy. Add cream cheese and continue to mix until all lumps are gone and it is nice and smooth. Add vanilla and egg and mix. Slowly add flour, a little at a time. Add baking soda and salt and mix well, but not too much! Turn off your mixer and add the chocolate chips, folding by hand with a rubber spatula. Scoop cookie dough by the rounded tablespoon onto a cookie sheet; make sure they aren’t too close though! Bake in your oven for 9-11 minutes, I do mine for 10. Cool on a rack and once they are all the way cool put into a plastic bag or container and keep in the fridge! Since they have cream cheese in them you don’t want them to spoil! These are the best chocolate chip cookies ever! They stay nice and moist!
So far, everyone that has tried them has loved them. Let me know if you make them, and how you like them! They are super yummy.
